Trauma

Trauma is the emotional response of a person to an extremely unpleasant or threatening event that exceeds their ability to cope. Such events can be an accident, loss, abuse, natural disaster, or even long-term exposure to stress, neglect, or violence.

Trauma is not only defined by the event that occurred, but also by the way it was experienced and stored in each person's psyche. Two people can have similar experiences but be affected very differently.

Trauma often leaves "invisible" marks on the body and mind: anxiety, overstimulation, disconnection, guilt, difficulty trusting, or reliving the event through nightmares or flashbacks.

Psychotherapy can provide a safe space for processing trauma, releasing experience, and gradually reconnecting with oneself and life.
