Depression
Depression is a common but serious mental condition that affects the way we think, feel and function in everyday life. It is not just a “bad mood” or a temporary sadness. It is a disorder that can lead to significant emotional and physical exhaustion.
Key symptoms may include persistent sadness, loss of interest or pleasure in activities, changes in sleep or appetite, low energy, feelings of worthlessness or guilt, difficulty concentrating and thoughts of death or suicide.
Depression is not a sign of weakness and does not need to be treated alone. With the right support and treatment – such as psychotherapy and/or medication – most people can recover and rediscover meaning and joy in their lives.
